Time for the Bay

Sometimes I see an ancestor in a large country field. I don’t know who he is or when he lived. He is leaning on a shovel gazing into the heavens and wondering, looking into the distant future.

I pray he can see me as I stand high on the cliff rock face with the vast horizon of the sea rolling out in front of me. A thought comes to me, like a ship appearing out of a fog … “Time For The Bay”, my senses say.

All songs written & composed by Joe Dunne©, except, track 15, Way Wind composed by Brian O’Shea©. Recorded in: Bingos Bunker Studio, Muzzle Music Rehearsal Studio, Flying Circus Studio, Coffee Hill Studio & Studio 1

Joe Dunne Bio

I'm a singer, songwriter and musician from Dublin Ireland. I play a large array of instruments including the guitar, tin whistle, banjo, bouzouki and mandola. I've played with many diverse musicians and have gigged across Ireland, Europe and the States.

My first album 'Hail Ceasar' has travelled the world and ended up in the hands of everyone from Cat Stevens to many more world renowned artists. More importantly it ended up in the hands of countless people from all over the world who have supported me in purchasing his album. Artwork and harmonica playing on 'Hail Ceasar' was by Geoff Rhind, an artistic companion of the early Beatles.

I began playing music at the age of ten and moved to guitar and singing by my late teens. From the ages of 13 -16 years I was present at vast amount of stadium gigs with older brothers Declan and Fintan , enjoying the talents of musicians from Harry Chapin(who Joe met as a young boy), to Loudon Wainwright III, BB King, Al Stewart etc. It was an education.

I formed the group "Speranza" with Tommy Walsh (Starc, Records), this was an experimental Irish folk music band in the 1990's. Another talented musician I collaborated with is the late Thom Moore a song writer, whose songs were recorded by many popular singers in the Irish music business and worldwide.

"Joe, your songs give me hope for the human race, all your songs are written for the right reasons...it couldn't be otherwise, given their obvious character." -Thom Moore.

The new album "Time for the Bay" has been seeded in these decades and was crafted over years.
